
Tashfeen Hussain has joined Mount Royal University in 2018. He has completed his PhD in Finance from Queen’s University in 2019. He also holds an MSc degree in Finance from Queen's University, and an MBA degree from University of Wisconsin - La Crosse.
Tashfeen has an extensive background in teaching Finance related courses. During his PhD, he taught at Queen's University and Royal Military College of Canada. Before that, he taught at North South University and American International University in Bangladesh. At Mount Royal University, Tashfeen has started teaching a new course at Mount Royal University from 2020 (Winter Semester) titled, “Financial Markets, Institutions and Governance”. Other than that, he currently teaches Introduction to Finance and Advanced Corporate Finance. He also worked as a research consultant in International Finance Corporation, World Bank Group.
His research interests include Empirical Corporate Finance in general, debt issuance and heterogeneity, creditor monitoring, corporate governance and corporate fraud, and emerging topics in finance in particular. He has been publishing in reputed journals on a regular basis, and his scholarly works are often presented in academic conferences in and outside Canada.

Kazi Junaed Hossain is a long-standing volunteer and respected community leader within the South Asian community in Alberta. With a deep commitment to social advocacy, he co-founded the "Do Not Be a Bystander" initiative—an impactful anti-bullying campaign that has reached audiences province-wide. His leadership has helped raise awareness, promote dialogue, and inspire proactive involvement in creating safer, more inclusive communities.
Beyond his community work, Kazi has dedicated his time as a volunteer coach for IT professionals, fostering a collaborative network focused on mutual growth and professional development. Through mentoring, peer support, and knowledge sharing, he has guided many individuals in their careers, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of the tech industry with confidence and purpose.
Professionally, Kazi brings a wealth of expertise as an IT specialist with a background in Computer Science and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He has participated in numerous training programs, earned multiple professional designations, and attended key industry conferences across North America. Currently, He works on complex operational design and solution phase for one of the top public organization in Alberta.

Salim Ahmed is a dedicated community leader with a strong record of service across academic, cultural, and educational organizations in Calgary. Currently serving as a Director of Unity Connects Alberta, he is committed to advancing equitable access to resources and fostering inclusive, community-driven initiatives. He also serves as Secretary of the School Council at University Elementary School, where he supports collaborative decision-making to enhance student learning and engagement.
Salim’s commitment to community development began during his time as President of the Bangladesh Students Association at the University of Calgary. He later served as Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Canada Association of Calgary, where he worked to strengthen cultural connections and expand support services for the local Bangladeshi-Canadian community. Passionate about advocacy and volunteerism, he has led initiatives focused on youth empowerment, health education, and support for underserved populations.
With a Master of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Calgary and a professional background in the pharmaceutical industry, Salim combines scientific insight with a deep commitment to social impact, community leadership, and inclusive growth.
